Fire rated silicone sealant that swells in the presence of heat to prevent the passage of fire and smoke. A silicone has a number of advantages over an acrylic sealant – it can be used externally, gives a more durable seal and has high movement capability and excellent adhesion to a wide range of materials. Soudal FR is tested for up to 6 hours fire protection depending on the joint configuration.

Uses include sealing gaps and cracks in fire rated walls and partitions, sealing around fire doors, service penetrations and fire retardent expansion joints.

The sealant depth will depend on the joint width and fire rating to be achieved. Backer foam should be installed if needed to achieve the correct sealant depth. Consult the manufacturer’s instructions for full information.
