Coated fire panels are used for closing service penetrations around mechanical and electrical services in concrete, masonry and plasterboard partitions. Simple to install, the panel is cut and shaped to be a snug fit around the services and the edges of the penetration. In drywall applications, the panel is fitted to both sides of the wall to protect the studs. All the joints in the panel are pointed with Intumescent Sealant or Panel Coating for complete integrity.
Coated Panel prevents the passage of fire and smoke and also has good acoustic insulation and air leakage ratings. Coated Panel does not have intumescent properties and does not expand in the event of a fire. This means that plastic pipes and electrical cable bunches passing through the board must be fitted with collars, sleeves or an appropriate electrical firestop product.
