Fire Resistant 18th Edition Range
BS 7671:2018 – the 18th Edition of the IET wiring regulations in force from the 1st January 2019 is the British standard covering the design, installation and testing of electrical installations.
In response to a number of fatal, fire related incidents where people have been trapped by falling cables, the 18th edition has introduced significant changes to the way cables are fixed.
The regulation requires that wiring systems are supported such that they will not be liable to premature collapse in the event of a fire. This now applies throughout the installation, not just in escape routes as was previously the case and precludes plastic cable clips and cable ties as the sole means of support.
The MIDFIX Fire Resistant 18th edition Range is a comprehensive selection of compliant cable fixings covering all aspects of the electrical installation and includes unique MIDFIX steel cable ties and cable tie mounts.
If you are unsure about which cable fixings are 18th edition compliant or confused as to whether plastic cable fixings are banned then this 18th edition fire-resistant cable fixings guide will remove the confusion
