A solution for working at height

Finite Element Analysis (FEA) was provided to ensure the structure was fit for purpose

Extremely limited time to design and manufacture

Project Brief

This scheme was a fast-track new build project which took 18 months from inception to completion at a university in the West Midlands. MIDFIX was appointed by a building services contractor to design and manufacture a height access solution to enable safe and easy access for maintenance personnel to access the building’s air handling units.

Solution

Our engineering design team designed a bespoke access platform which met the working at height regulations 2005 (WAHR) as well as provide maintenance personnel with a safe platform to work on. The access platform featured a staircase leading to the upper level.

Prior to the design, we undertook an in-depth site survey to capture measurements as well as to ascertain any site specific requirements. Once the concept design was finalised, our engineering team provided FEA (finite element analysis) on the structure to prove that the platform was fit for purpose and provided the drawings to allow our fabricators to manufacture the platform. Our workshop had an extremely limited time to manufacture the platform. The team assembled the platform in the workshop prior to dispatching for site delivery.
