We spend 5 minutes with Chris to find out how he achieves over 98% of orders being delivered within 24 hours and how he manages to keep on top the 11,000 products in the warehouse.

  1. Chris, what’s your role at MIDFIX?

I’m the Warehouse Team Leader

  1. What do you do on a day-to-day basis?

My role is varied.  We stock over 11,000 products, a part of my role is to monitor and maintain stock inventory levels.

Health and Safety is also an important aspect of my job, it’s vital to maintain a safe and clean working environment by keeping shelves tidy and work stations neat.  I also sort and place all our products on racks and shelves.

As part of our customer promise, we offer a next day delivery if they place the order before 4pm.  We often receive a large volume of orders during the late afternoon.  This means the warehouse team are often very busy preparing and packing orders to fulfil our delivery promise.    We actually have an impressive record, over 98% of our orders are delivered within 24 hours.

  1. What do you like most about your job?

This sounds like a cliché but no-one day is the same.  I like the variety in my job. The most significant thing for me is the staff, at MIDFIX we have an honest and hard-working ethic, we do what we say we will and we work together as a unit.  People really enjoy their job and we have a low staff turnover rate.

  1. What advice would you give to people wanting a career in this field?

Working in a warehouse can be physically demanding so it will suit those people who don’t want to sit in front of a computer 9-5.  You will need good communication, organisational and time management skills and the ability to work under pressure.  Being patient will also help.
